About
Praça Tiradentes has unmissable attractions by Teófilo Otoni. On site you can see and buy the famous rough and cut gemstones that gave the city the title of “World Capital of Precious Stones”! These minerals can be found at newsstands and with freelance brokers who are located in the square. Another unique attraction of this space are the friendly sloths, which inhabit the treetops, and from time to time they are seen and even come down to make the residents and tourists happy. “Tiradentes” also holds another relic of the region's past: Poxichá. It is the first locomotive that pulled the wagons of the extinct Bahia-Minas Railroad, which connected the northeast of Minas Gerais to the south of Bahia.
Operation
On Sundays, the square hosts performances by local musicians in its amphitheater. Show times are from 11:00h to 14:00h and from 20:00h to 22:30h.
